Development International Objectives


  • Help host country constituents access international development financial and technical resources and maintain control over the implementation of their projects 
  • Partner with host country civil society organizations to enhance their missions with regard to the development needs of their constituencies
  • Help donor agencies interact effectively with developing community constituencies to enhance the impact and sustainability of their funding 
  • Promote and facilitate direct communication and networking among civil society organizations and academia to further global development
  • Provide a forum to discuss the improvement of global development practice through the inclusion of alternative and culturally diverse perspectives and the participation of historically underrepresented stakeholders
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of the implications of appropriate environmental protection and remediation policy and practice, and its contribution to global economic development and sustainability
  • Promote the inclusion of indigenous and traditional knowledge perspectives to enhance the technical and intellectual resource pool of appropriate development solution strategies
  • Target assistance to severely stressed and unstable populations suffering internal and external displacement and post-conflict trauma
  • Facilitate rapid response assistance to populations suffering from sudden and unanticipated challenges to their welfare such as natural disasters and political upheavals
  • Promote the accessibility and utilization of academic knowledge, research, and best practices approach for the conceptualization and planning of development strategies
  • Augment development knowledge and practice through the continued exploration and advocacy of thematic areas of focus generally underrepresented in global development
  • Coordinate international and public relations support for project development 
  • Promote effective development practice focused holistically on the integration of strategies within the local environmental, social, cultural, and economic contexts
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships for education involving governments, multilateral organizations, businesses, civil society representatives, schools and NGOs
  • Partner with higher education institutions to establish joint service endeavors, facilitate coordination with host country academic institutions, assist DI personnel recruitment, and collaborate on relevant global development funding initiatives
  • Contribute to the empowerment of local civil society organizations by facilitating capacity development and organization business strategies that foster sustainability
  • Promote the objectives of global development initiatives such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), US Millennium Challenge Account, the World Bank Comprehensive Development Framework, the USAID New Partnerships Initiative, the Paris Declaration, Agenda 21 of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), and the International Trade Centre.
