Development International (DI) is a California and Hawaii-based non-profit, non-political organization that executes its mission through its staff, advisors, and mission associates who represent national, social, cultural and gender diversity; who share the commonality of interest and commitment to the facilitation and promotion of shared responsibility for stakeholder empowerment as the hallmark of meaningful and sustainable global development.
At Development International, we are dedicated to the premise that global development is a universally shared need, that every community is both developed and developing in one aspect or another, and that the true state of global development can be characterized only in collective terms of the whole of humanity.
Development occurs when communities are empowered to utilize resources and assets in a manner that contributes to their collective cultural, social, environmental, and economic welfare. Each community determines for itself what constitutes development in its own context, and the terms on which that development transpires.
Legitimate and sustainable development occurs through partnerships based on mutual respect among all stakeholders, assistance providers and recipients alike, recognizing the mutual enrichment afforded through their shared interaction.
